mechanical at 106 Main
/Honestly, one of my favorite parts of a building is the complexity of its mechanical systems. Even a small commercial building requires a lot of interlocking parts — it is a very spatial problem!

Very excited to see the walls going up at the new gallery/community building in Delhi.
This is what I like to see. Digging trenches at Callicoon house now after months of rain (and snow).
Positive vibes written on the wall of my job site today. We should all remember to reward ourselves for achieving what we never thought possible!
Schematic design is one of my greatest joys! Thanks to my client downstate for being so open-minded and enthusiastic throughout this process. When it’s your house, it’s a big deal!
Repointing the interior living space in this old stone house in Callicoon, NY. The light here is amazing — a part of me wishes this plywood weatherproofing was a part of the final design!
The flooring has been delivered and ready for install at the new gallery/community space in the village of Delhi, NY. I love this part.
Finally pouring the foundation for a project in Harpersfield, NY!
New house project in Delancey, New York. I am a sketch machine.
Super excited to be consulting for General Assembly Studio in Brooklyn on their upstate NY projects! This is a beautiful old stone house in Callicoon that will get a gut renovation and new sunroom addition, taking advantage of the classic backyard mountain views of the Catskills.
Working on a new utility addition / patio / sauna for a house in Harpersfield. Sauna research really is the best research.
Our design for a gut renovation in Delancey, NY was chosen by SUNY Delhi's Residential Construction build program! This means that the demo and construction will be completed by the SUNY students during the fall and spring semesters as part of their accredited curriculum. Great news for us and the client! .......Also a great way to save a little money on labor, while contributing to the community of Delhi......
This is an image of a new house project in Stamford. Even though we are demolishing and rebuilding its parts, I really appreciate the sensitivity with which the past owners added on to their original tiny farmhouse over the last 150+ years. You can see the gradual evolution of the massing as it cascades down the hill -- can't wait to see the after shot.
I can tell summer is on its way when more and more people are getting excited about their home building projects. Here are a few sketches for an addition and renovation of a 1830s farmhouse in Hobart, NY.
I was internet-ing last night and came across a few articles on curbed that I found to be interesting. The role of an architect seems elusive, but I believe it can be made very clear with the right conversation, quote, and contract. I always strive to be absolutely transparent about the services I offer, and I attempt to anticipate and alleviate as many future problems as possible from the start of a building project.

We did some measuring last week for a prospective client in Delancey, and I wanted to share this funny drawing with you. I enjoy the challenges of a gut renovation -- your level of preparedness must be on point, or else something inevitably gets lost in the madness!
Finally getting the third floor space cleaned up and ready for finishing! Very lucky the fire did not damage this old masonic plaster, which is a sparking gem of a material, in my eyes. #oldplaster #oldlathe #thosewallstho
Revelation as a freelancer (and I hate to say it): sketchup is the best program to design small houses and interior spaces!
Mac Hall kitchen and serving room under construction. Hey, Don.
